The "Life Exhibition" is coming
School children & youth groups in Leighton Buzzard will soon be discovering about the life and impact of Jesus Christ.
The LIFE Exhibition, which travels the length and breadth of the country and is visited by an estimated 1,000 people every week, is coming to our church between Wednesday 24th and Wednesday 31st March 2010.
The LIFE Exhibition is a unique, interactive, mobile exhibition developed by COUNTIES, a UK based Christian Charity. National LIFE Exhibition Co-ordinator, Martin Buckley, explains: “The purpose of the exhibition is to give people an opportunity to think for themselves about who Jesus really is. No single person has ever done more to influence the course of history, and to affect so many people’s lives, and yet there is still so much misunderstanding around his life, death and resurrection. Many people see Jesus as an inspirational figure, and we want to help people consider the meaning of Christ’s miracles and teaching, and the impact of his death and resurrection, not just 2,000 years ago, but still today. The idea is to take a look at what we know about Jesus, and let people make up their own mind. The exhibition focuses on the life of Jesus, and aims to:
The LIFE Exhibition covers a variety of themes, including:
The LIFE Exhibition is an educational experience with active learning opportunities. Using PDA technology, with text, graphics, DVD and sound, the exhibition is a ‘hands on’ interactive learning experience. LIFE tells of the life of Jesus, his Jewish roots, his teaching and miracles, and his death, burial and resurrection. The final area of the exhibition is the LIFE Café, where visitors can have refreshments and discuss what they have seen and experienced. Further follow-up material is available via a dedicated web-site, www.lifexpo.co.uk.

Second grant for wallWe're delighted to hear that WREN have confirmed their intent to award the Church a grant of £7000 towards the cost of construction of a wall to the rear of the property adjoining Leston Road. This will provide a secure rear garden to the church which will enable us to allow children from play group and toddlers to play in the fresh air when the weather is favourable; this is an OFSTED requirement and without the securing of an external area it is possible that the groups would have to close. This success follows a first grant made by Beds Council which we were awarded following their meeting in October 2009, and the success of obtaining planning permission (at the second request) earlier in the year. It is now hoped that the wall will be built late Spring / early Summer.

Delta House - a community resourceWhen Hockliffe Street Baptist Church bought the building next door to the church, known as Delta House, it was the intention that this would become a community resource. In the last year or so that we have begun to see it fulfilling its potential. For just over a year, it was good to be able to offer office space to one of the organisations which operate from Bossard House while that building was being renovated. This in turn has led to a number of short training courses being run in Delta House by other agencies. The facility has now been discovered by both Beds. County Council and South Beds. District Council as a venue for training days and conferences. Most pleasing of all, however, has been the gradual development of the building as a centre for counselling services: there are now a number of different groups offering counselling at various times throughout the week, both for adults and children, for general counselling as well as specific help with addictions. If you are interested in any of the counselling services, please phone: 01525 371312 for more information.
